Be The Judge Raw Pie Contest Rules: 1. All pie entries must contain only raw vegan ingredients (fresh fruits, vegetables, nuts, and seeds). Pies should not contain any animal ingredients, including dairy, cheese, milk, etc. None of the ingredients should be cooked or heated above 118 degrees. Low temp dehydrated fruits are okay. Raw organic honey is okay.
2. Ingredients not acceptable include: flours, chocolate & roasted carob (you can use raw cacao & carob), sugars, salts (Himalayan Pink Salt or Good Quality Sea Salt is ok), molasses, maple syrup, vanilla extract (vanilla bean is available in most health food stores or at http://www.rawglow.com).
3. Raw Agave, Raw Dates, Raw Dried Fruit, Yacon Syrup, Stevia Leaf and Powder are excellent substitutes and readily available.
** If you have any doubts about whether an ingredient is raw vegan, please email glowingraw-info@yahoo.com and ask.
4. You may use any recipe (recipes do not need to be your own), however all pies must be prepared at home from scratch. Creativity and originality are encouraged. There will be a refrigerator and freezer available to store your pie until judging.
5. Please pre-register by filling out the web form at http://www.rawglow.com/entryform.htm or contacting Cecilia Benjumea at glowingraw-info@yahoo.com and provide your name, phone number, email address, pie name, and list of ingredients
6. A $10 entry fee is payable to Raw Glow upon registration. Payment can be made online at http://www.rawglow.com/rawfoodpiecontest.htm or sent to the address below. This fee is non-refundable after July 20th, 2008.
7. Upon registration you will be assigned a contestant number to identify your pie at the contest. Please ensure that your pie is identified with the correct number & pie name.
8.If you would like to share your recipe please bring about 20 handouts of your recipe to give to the attendees or you may keep your recipe private if desired.
9. Cancellation: Please provide us with notice no later than July 20th so that we may anticipate how many pies will be entered.
10. All entries must be brought to the contest by 12:30p.m. on July 27thth to be eligible for judging.
11. If desired, after the judging you may get the opportunity to talk about your pie and briefly explain how you made it.
JUDGING:
1. The judging of all entries will begin promptly at 1:30 pm, however photographs and public viewing will begin at 1:00p.m.
