A green smoothie is simply a smoothie with about 60% fresh ripe

We were so lucky to
have Victoria Boutenko speak to our local potluck group in
Petaluma! Some of the participants asked me to start a green
smoothie challenge and I decided to make it available to anyone
who wanted to participate via the internet. As part of the
challenge this last summer I
drank two green smoothies a day for 2 months! It was awesome! I noticed
increased energy, improved digestion, diminished cravings for unhealthy
food, and a skin tab I was born with on my forehead shrank considerably
since I started drinking green smoothies. All the recipes I drank in the

I started making green
smoothies about a month ago. Now I am totally hooked. My husband said it
looked like "snail food" but I ignored him. There was something
extraordinary about how I felt after drinking a green smoothie in the
morning.
My particular method looks
like this: Fifteen minutes before I leave for work, I layer frozen
organic mangoes, fresh spinach (or kale), and lemon juice into the
blender. Then I fill it a little more than half way with filtered water.
I blend until it's nice and smooth, then I pour it into a glass quart
sized mason jar (it just fits!). The lid goes on nice and tight for
transporting.
I drink my smoothie on my
rather lengthy commute. It's all gone by the time I get to work and I
feel FANTASTIC. I have lots of energy for the rest of the day. In the
afternoon I still feel energetic enough to exercise.
On a recent girl's night out,
a friend I haven't seen for a long time said to me, "Wow! You look
great! You are really GLOWING." I thought that was interesting. I do
notice a change in my skin, it's much clearer and firmer. My hair
doesn't need washing as much, and it's nice and shiny. I also think my
lips look darker.
Now my husband, who has had a
cold for some time, asks me for some of my green smoothie in the
morning. I think that's pretty funny considering he made fun of me for
making them. I am totally hooked and cannot imagine a morning without
one. Thank you so much for your inspiration.
